The South Rim Visitors Center is a great place to start your visit to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. The center offers exhibits, information, and a bookstore, as well as access to hiking trails and overlooks. Visitors can explore the inner canyon, but this requires skill, experience, and preparation. The area has 12 overlooks that can be visited by car, and more along the hiking trails. The South Rim is the busier, more developed side of the park, with a paved scenic drive, year-round visitor center, and a large campground
