Painted Wall

The Painted Wall is a spectacular natural wonder located in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, Colorado. At 2,300 feet, it is the highest cliff in Colorado, with patterns created over a billion years ago when molten rock was squeezed into fractures and joints in the existing rock. The result is a 3-dimensional pattern that is revealed differently if a section of the cliff were to be sliced off.
