Mesa Verde National Park is a national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site located in Montezuma County, Colorado. The park protects some of the best-preserved Ancestral Puebloan ancestral sites in the United States, including over 5,000 known archaeological sites, such as cliff dwellings, mesa top sites, pit houses, pueblos, masonry towers, and farming structures. The park offers a glimpse into the lives of the Ancestral Pueblo people who lived there for over 700 years, and is home to over a thousand species, including several that live nowhere else on earth. Visitors can explore the park's unique cultural and physical landscape, which includes the famous Cliff Palace, one of the largest cliff dwellings in North America
