Founded in 1876, it is the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley and is listed under both the National Register of Historic Places and as a California Historical Landmark. The winery offers public tours and wine tasting, and its estate includes 12 buildings, sites, or structures, with the Rhine House being the most prominent. The Rhine House was built from 1883 to 1884 and features elaborate interiors, showcasing Queen Anne and Chateauesque architectural styles. The winery has a rich history, with previous ownership by the Beringer family, Nestlé, and Foster's Group, and is currently owned by Treasury Wine Estates
