Fremont Older Open Space Preserve is a 739-acre preserve that offers a variety of experiences for hikers, bicyclists, and equestrians. The preserve features open hayfields, oak-covered trails, and sweeping views of the Santa Clara Valley. Visitors can trek through the hayfields and along the trails, climbing to the top of Maisie's Peak, the highest peak in the preserve, for panoramic views. The preserve also features a 3.1-mile loop trail, the Hayfield Trail to Toyon and Bay View Loop, which is considered moderately challenging and offers beautiful views of the city and wildflowers in the spring. The trail is suitable for families and is open year-round, but it's essential to bring enough water and protect yourself from the sun due to minimal shade
