Strawberry Hill Loop Trail/Stow Lake Trail

Hiking trail San Francisco, California, United States

What to expect

Strawberry Hill is a small island located in Golden Gate Park's man-made lake, Stow Lake. The island is adorned with walking trails, steps up to the summit of the hill, and a diversity of shrubbery and trees. It also features a wonderful artificial waterfall named Huntington Falls that surges over 37 meters into the lake below. The Strawberry Hill Hike is a 3.4 km to 3.7 km loop trail that offers a pleasant stroll around the lake and a climb to the hill's summit, the highest point in Golden Gate Park. The trail is suitable for hikers of all skill levels and ages, and dogs are welcome as long as they remain on-leash. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including birds, butterflies, ducks, and turtles. Visitors can rent paddleboats and enjoy the lake from a different perspective or explore the Chinese Pavilion and meditate. The picnic area has two 12-foot tables available for reservation, and BBQ grills are allowed, but there are no restrooms at the picnic site
