What to expect

The Tower Bridge is a vertical lift bridge across the Sacramento River, linking West Sacramento to Sacramento. It has a unique and pleasing appearance, with a strong Streamline Moderne influence, and is considered an outstanding expression of the social and architectural climate of the period. The bridge was designed by architect Alfred Eichler and features a 52 ft wide roadway with sidewalks, single lanes for cars, and a large center lane for trains. The towers are 160 ft tall, and the bridge has a total length of 737 ft. The bridge is maintained by the California Department of Transportation and is part of State Route 275, connecting West Capitol Avenue and Cabaldon Parkway in West Sacramento with the Capitol Mall in Sacramento. The bridge was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982
