What to expect

The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens is a unique zoo and botanical garden combination dedicated to the deserts of the world. It is home to over 500 animals representing more than 150 species, including African meerkats, desert foxes, giraffes, and many others. The zoo offers various interactive experiences, such as Keeper Connections, where visitors can learn about the animals from animal care experts. The zoo also features a model train exhibit, a playground called Gecko Gulch, and a carousel. Additionally, it has a certified autism center and offers sensory bags for visitors with autism or sensory needs. The zoo is set on 1,200 acres, with 80 acres developed as zoo and gardens, and is situated in the Sonoran Desert of the Coachella Valley and Santa Rosa Mountains foothills
