Fern Canyon

Canyon Orick, California, United States

What to expect

Fern Canyon is a stunning two-story canyon covered in ferns, surrounded by sitka spruce and other conifers. The canyon has a 1-mile 'lolly-pop' loop trail with an elevation gain of 150 feet, and visitors can expect to get their feet wet as they cross the stream to experience the canyon. The area is home to a herd of Roosevelt Elk, and visitors are advised to keep a safe distance. The canyon is a popular destination, but it's not wheelchair accessible, and pets are not permitted, except for service animals. Visitors can also access the nearby Gold Bluffs Beach, which has picnic tables, trash cans, and beach access
