Subway Cave is a lava tube located in Old Station, California. It is approximately 1/3 mile long and takes about five minutes to walk from one side of the cave to the other. The cave is completely dark, so visitors must bring a flashlight. The temperature inside the cave remains at a cool 46 degrees, making it a great place to escape the heat. The cave is wide open and never feels too tight, making it accessible for those who are claustrophobic. The cave features unique rock formations, including a area called Lucifer's Cul-de-Sac and a large room with 15-foot ceilings.
