Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve

Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve is a 1,750-acre reserve dedicated to preserving its namesake, the Torrey Pine tree, and other indigenous wildlife in its native environment. The park features high broken cliffs, deep ravines, and stands of wind-sculpted pines. Hikers can follow trails through the reserve, which offers breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. The reserve is home to approximately 3,000 of the nation's rarest pine trees, as well as one of the last great salt marshes and waterfowl refuges in Southern California. The park has a series of well-kept trails that wind along the cliffs, providing a great hiking experience for all levels. Visitors can also see the California quail gathered in coveys in the early mornings of fall and winter, and enjoy the wildflowers in the spring
