Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is a state park located in the Santa Cruz Mountains, preserving mainly forest and riparian areas in the watershed of the San Lorenzo River, including a grove of old-growth coast redwood. The park features over 15 miles of hiking trails, including the Redwood Grove Loop Trail, a 0.9-mile loop that takes visitors through a stunning grove of ancient redwoods. The park also offers opportunities for horseback riding, picnicking, swimming, fishing, and camping. The Fall Creek Unit, located a few miles north, is a second-growth redwood forest with a fern-lined river canyon and remnants of a successful lime-processing industry. The park is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including banana slugs, black-tailed deer, coyotes, bobcats, and steelhead trout
