Dana Point is a city located in southern Orange County, California, with a population of 33,107. The city has one of the few harbors along the Orange County coast and is a popular local destination for surfing. It was named after the headland of Dana Point, which was in turn named after Richard Henry Dana Jr., author of 'Two Years Before the Mast'. The city has a rich history, with the area being home to the Acjachemen village site of Toovannga, and later becoming a popular port for ships involved in the hide trade. Today, Dana Point offers a range of activities and amenities, including parks, beaches, and a nature interpretive center, making it a great destination for families to visit
