What to expect

Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park is a state park in Monterey County, California, near the area of Big Sur on the state's Central Coast. It covers approximately 1,006 acres of land and is centered on the Big Sur River. The park has been nicknamed a 'mini Yosemite.' A Redwood tree in the park, nicknamed the Colonial Tree, is estimated to be between 1,100 and 1,200 years old. The park offers camping facilities, including 189 RV and tent sites situated on or near the Big Sur River, as well as a Campfire Center that offers evening programs during peak season. Interpretive walks and education programs are offered year-round on weekends. The park has rules in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for visitors, including quiet hours, generator hours, and restrictions on pets and wildlife feeding

Activities: We followed the Big Sur River to the sea. We took the Valley View Trail and hiked on the Pfeiffer Falls Trail. We also visited the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park
