The spring is one of the few open-air springs accessible in the park and is an excellent place to learn about the Hot Springs thermal water cycle. The water from the spring is heated to roughly 160 degrees Fahrenheit by the increasing heat of the Earth and is believed to have been used for therapeutic purposes for over 4,000 years.
