Grand Canyon National Park, located in Arizona, is a geologic wonder and ancestral homeland of 11 present-day Tribal Communities. The park encompasses 278 miles of the Colorado River and adjacent uplands, offering spectacular examples of erosion and incomparable vistas from both the north and south rims. The North Rim, also known as the 'other side' of the Grand Canyon, is visited by only 10% of all park visitors and is over 8000 feet in elevation. It offers hiking trails, including the 21-mile trail from the South Rim to the North Rim, which includes a 4860 ft elevation loss and a 5850 ft elevation gain. The North Rim has a short season and is more wild and secluded than the South Rim
