What to expect

Cape Royal is a 7,880-foot-elevation summit located in the eastern Grand Canyon, Coconino County of northern Arizona, United States. It is the southernmost viewpoint of the North Rim, offering views from north-northeast, south, west, and southwest. The 0.5-mile Cape Royal Trail starts at the parking lot and ends at the overlook at Cape Royal. From Cape Royal, visitors can see the massif and highpoint of Freya Castle, and southeasterly is massive Wotans Throne. The cliffs of Cape Royal are composed of Kaibab Limestone. Cape Royal provides a panorama up, down, and across the canyon, making it a popular spot for both sunrise and sunset. The area is also accessible via a paved, level trail, and there are picnic tables and restrooms available
