Yavapai Geology Museum

The Yavapai Geology Museum is located at Yavapai Point on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, offering a panoramic view of the canyon. The museum features annotated displays, rock column models, and a large topographic relief map to help visitors understand the geology of the area. The museum's exhibits explain the deposition of rock layers, the uplift of the Colorado Plateau, and the carving of the Grand Canyon. The building was originally designed by architect Herbert C. Maier in 1928 and has been renovated to include new geology exhibits. The museum is wheelchair accessible and offers a bookstore and museum shop. Visitors can also participate in a 30-minute geology program presented by a ranger.
