The Quiraing

Mountain range Portree, Scotland, United Kingdom

What to expect

The Quiraing is a landform on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, the northernmost summit of the Trotternish escarpment on the Isle of Skye, Scotland. It is a craterous hollow surrounded by a high rampart of rock, with a raised plateau known as the Table, and distinctive features such as the Needle, a jagged pinnacle, and the Prison, a mass of rock resembling a medieval keep. The Quiraing was formed by a massive landslip and has been renowned for its fantastical appearance since the Victorian period. It is a spectacular place to visit, with impressive views and a loop walk that covers a distance of 6.8km, taking around 2 hours to complete. The walk is considered medium in length and hard in difficulty, and is not suitable in all weather conditions, especially windy or misty days. The Quiraing is a great place for photographers and those who enjoy scenic walks, with its unique landscape and stunning views
