The Giant's Causeway is a geological wonder and home to a wealth of history and legend. It is an area of approximately 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient volcanic fissure eruption. The tops of the columns form stepping stones that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the columns are hexagonal, although some have four, five, seven, or eight sides. The site is cared for by the National Trust and offers a state-of-the-art interpretation within the award-winning Visitor Centre to unlock the mystery, myth, and legend of this amazing place. Visitors can explore the site through guided tours or audio guides available in different languages. The site is accessible, with facilities such as toilets for disabled visitors, wheelchair hire, and baby changing facilities. There is also a gift shop, tea-room, and picnic area
