Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge is a rope bridge near Ballintoy in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The bridge links the mainland to the tiny island of Carrickarede and spans 20 metres, 30 metres above the rocks below. It is mainly a tourist attraction and offers stunning views across to Rathlin Island and even Scotland. The bridge has a long history, dating back to the 18th century when it was first erected by salmon fishermen. Today, visitors can cross the bridge and explore the island, taking in the unique geology, flora, and fauna of the area. The site is designated an Area of Special Scientific Interest and is owned and maintained by the National Trust
