What to expect

JORVIK Viking Centre is a world-famous 'must-see' visitor attraction in the heart of York city centre. The centre takes visitors back to the year AD 960, with a ride through the reconstructed city of Jorvik, featuring 360-degree views, sights, sounds, and even smells of the Viking Age. After the ride, visitors can explore a state-of-the-art gallery displaying unique and exciting artefacts unearthed on the site. The centre also offers interactive displays, the opportunity to learn about tenth-century life, and to discuss it with 'Viking' staff. Among the exhibits is a replica of the Coppergate Helmet.
