Barricane Beach, also known as 'The Shell Beach', is a unique and secluded cove located between Woolacombe and Mortehoe. The beach is known for its abundance of exotic shells, including cowries, which are carried by the Gulf Stream from the Caribbean. It's a great spot for rockpooling, with many species of marine life, such as common mussels, limpets, and sea hare. The beach is also a good spot for surfing and swimming, although there are no lifeguards. Dogs are allowed on part of the beach. The surrounding cliffs are made of Morte Slate and offer beautiful views. The beach is a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its geological features and is home to many rock pools and species. Visitors can enjoy the beach's natural beauty, go for a walk along the coastline, and explore the nearby area, which is rich in Bronze Age history
