River Wye

River Ross-on-Wye, England, United Kingdom

What to expect

Ross-on-Wye is a market town and civil parish in Herefordshire, England, near the border with Wales. It lies in the south-east of the county, on the River Wye and on the northern edge of the Forest of Dean. The town is known for its picturesque location and stunning Market House, and has been voted the UK's best-loved market town. Visitors can browse independent shops, stroll alongside the town's 19th-century mock-Gothic walls and Gazebo Tower folly, and admire pastel-hued dwellings tumbling down the hillside to the river. The town is also the centre of a region historically dubbed Archenfield or 'Land of Hedgehogs', and is the perfect centre to explore castles, abbeys, adventure experiences, walking and cycling routes, museums, and a film trail
