What to expect

The Mary Rose is a historic ship that served in the English Tudor navy of King Henry VIII. She was launched in 1511 and sank in 1545 during a battle with a French invasion fleet. The wreck of the ship was discovered in 1971 and raised in 1982, and is now on display at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. The ship has been preserved and restored, and is accompanied by a large collection of artefacts that provide insight into life on board during the Tudor period. Visitors can explore the ship and learn about its history, as well as the lives of the crew who lived and worked on board.
