St Michael's Mount is a tidal island in Mount's Bay near Penzance, Cornwall, England. The island is a civil parish and is linked to the town of Marazion by a causeway of granite setts, passable between mid-tide and low water. It is managed by the National Trust, and the castle and chapel have been the home of the St Aubyn family since around 1650. The island is crowned by a medieval church and castle, with the oldest buildings dating from the 12th century. Visitors can explore the castle, stroll through the subtropical garden, and enjoy breathtaking views of Mount's Bay. The island has a rich history, with evidence of people living in the area during the Neolithic period, and it is believed to have been the site of a monastery from the 8th to the early 11th century
