The Imperial War Museum North is a museum that explores the conflicts that Britain and the Commonwealth have been involved in since the First World War to the current day. The museum is housed in an iconic aluminium clad building, representing a globe shattered by conflict, designed by internationally acclaimed architect Daniel Libeskind. The building's sharp angles, sloping floors, leaning walls, and imposing exterior are deliberately in place to unsettle and disorientate visitors, intensifying the collections and stories within. Families can enjoy free family activities every weekend and daily activities during school holidays. The museum also features a 360-degree cinematic Big Picture Show, a timeline of history, and a vast collection of over 2,000 objects and stories. Additionally, the museum has a shop offering a range of inspiring and unique gifts, and locker facilities are available for visitors
