The Shard, also referred to as the Shard London Bridge, is a 72-storey mixed-use development supertall pyramid-shaped skyscraper in Southwark, London. It is the tallest building in the United Kingdom, standing 309.6 metres high. The Shard has 72 habitable floors, with a viewing gallery and open-air observation deck on the 72nd floor, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city. The building is part of The Shard Quarter development and features a range of amenities, including seven restaurants, offices, residences, and public spaces. The Shard's design is inspired by the spires of London churches and the masts of tall ships, and its construction began in March 2009, with practical completion achieved in November 2012
