Serpentine Lake

Lake London, England, United Kingdom

What to expect

The Serpentine is a 40-acre recreational lake in Hyde Park, London, created in 1730. The lake is used for boating in the summer and skating in the winter. Visitors can hire a pedalo or a row boat to enjoy a unique perspective of Hyde Park from the water. The lake has a maximum depth of 17 ft and is surrounded by recreational facilities, including two lakeside restaurants. The Serpentine takes its name from its snakelike, curving shape and is a popular spot for families to visit. The lake is also home to the Serpentine Swimming Club, which organises a 100-yard race every Christmas morning
