Thorpeness

Village Leiston, England, United Kingdom

What to expect

Thorpeness is a seaside village that was developed in the early 20th century into an exclusive holiday village. The village features a large artificial boating lake known as the Meare, which was created in the style of a Peter Pan world, with many islands and inlets named after locations from the novel. Visitors can hire boats and explore the Meare, which includes a pirate's lair and Wendy's house. The village also features a unique water tower known as the 'House in the Clouds', which appears to float above the rooftops. The village has a beautiful beach with a wide, mainly shingle shoreline, where visitors can walk for miles and enjoy the scenery. The North Warren RSPB reserve, an area of wildlife and habitat conservation, is located nearby, offering nature trails and opportunities to spot local wildlife
