What to expect

Clovelly is a beautiful, picturesque fishing village, steeped in maritime atmosphere and history. The village sits 400 feet above the harbour and Bideford Bay, with a steep pedestrianised cobbled main street and traditional architecture. Visitors can explore the village, which has been associated with only three families since the middle of the 13th century, and enjoy its historic charm. The village has a rich history, with evidence of human habitation dating back to the Iron Age, and has been owned by several notable families, including the Hamlyn family, who have managed the village since 1738. The village is also home to the Church of All Saints, a Grade I listed building, and has a lifeboat station that has been in operation since 1870
