What to expect

Kanlı Divane Ören Yeri is an archaeological site located in Erdemli, Mersin, located approximately 50 km west of Mersin. The settlement is situated around a large sinkhole, known as Kanlı Divane Obruk, which is 142 m long, 95 m wide, and 50 m deep. The area was first inhabited during the Hellenistic Period and remained continuously inhabited until the Late Antique Period. The site features a Hellenistic tower, rock graves, and reliefs from various historical periods. The tower was built by the priest-king Teukros, son of Tarkyaris, and dedicated to Zeus Olbios. The reliefs on the walls of the sinkhole depict figures of men and women, and there is also a relief of a soldier holding a spear and a sword. The site also includes the tomb of Aba, a monumental tomb built in the style of Roman temples, and several churches from the Late Antiquity period
