The Mevlâna Museum is a former spiritual see and mausoleum of the famous whirling dervishes, a branch of Sufism founded by the poet, theologian and spiritual leader Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi. The museum houses the mausoleum of Rumi, as well as works from the Mevlana and Mevlevi orders, including handwritten books, tablets, oil lamps, and musical instruments. The museum's specialized library contains more than 4,000 manuscripts spread across 2,756 volumes belonging to the Seljuk, Karamanid, and Ottoman periods. The museum also features a Ritual Hall where dervishes used to perform the Sema, a ritual whirling dance, and exhibits examples of musical instruments, dervish clothing, and rare books of poetry written by Mevlâna
