The Maiden's Tower, also known as Leander's Tower, is a tower on a small islet at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus strait, 200 m from the coast of Üsküdar in Istanbul, Turkey. The tower has a rich history, with various versions of it being built and rebuilt over the centuries. According to legend, the tower was built by an emperor to protect his daughter from a prophecy that she would be killed by a venomous snake. The tower has been used as a custom station, watchtower, lighthouse, and quarantine station, and is now a popular café and restaurant with excellent views of the former Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman capital. The tower's interior has been transformed into a café and restaurant, making it a great place to visit with family and friends
