Egyptian Spice Market

Market Fatih, Istanbul, Turkey

What to expect

The Egyptian Spice Market, also known as the Spice Bazaar, is one of the oldest and most famous bazaars in Istanbul. It is a beautifully decorated market packed with color and a delight for all the senses. The bazaar has a total of 85 shops selling spices, Turkish delight, sweets, jewelry, souvenirs, and dried fruits and nuts. It is located in the Eminönü quarter of the Fatih district and is part of the külliye of the New Mosque. The bazaar was built in 1660 with the revenues from the Ottoman eyalet of Egypt, and its name 'Egyptian Bazaar' comes from this fact. The building itself is an L-shaped structure with six entrance points
