Douiret is a ruined Berber village located on a hilltop near a modern village of the same name. The old village was once a fortified granary, or ksar, and was built on a hilltop to help protect it from raiding parties. It features a stunning white mosque, known as the 'palm tree mosque' or Jamaa ennakhla, and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley. Visitors can explore the ruins of the ancient village, which include abandoned dwellings and a citadel. The village has a rich history, dating back over 600 years, and was once an important caravan stop between Gabès and the Libyan city of Ghdamès. Today, it is a popular stop on southern Tunisia's ksar trail, attracting visitors with its unique blend of history, culture, and natural beauty
