Street Art à Djerbahood

Street art Djerba Houmet Souk, Medenine, Tunisia

What to expect

Djerbahood is a neighborhood on Djerba Island in Tunisia that has been transformed into a street art museum. In 2014, 150 artists from 30 countries came together to create over 250 murals and frescoes, covering the village's traditional white walls with vibrant colors. The project was initiated by the Itinerrance de Paris gallery and aimed to bring together international artists from the street art movement. The village's architecture, with its whitewashed, cubiform buildings, provides a unique backdrop for the street art. Visitors can explore the narrow streets and discover the various murals, which include works by renowned artists such as Saner, B-Toy, and Roa. The street art incorporates elements of traditional Tunisian architecture, making it a fascinating blend of old and new. While some of the murals have deteriorated over time, the village remains a popular destination for those interested in street art and culture
