Shark Bay

Beach Ko Pha-Ngan, Surat Thani, Thailand

What to expect

Shark Bay, also known as Thian Og or Rocky Bay, is a private bay on Koh Tao boasting a stunning beach with fine white sand. It is shaded by tall coconut trees and a unique plant known as Pemphis Acidula. The bay offers a tranquil, relaxing setting and is known for its many resident blacktip reef sharks, which can be seen all year round. The optimum depth to see sharks is around 3-6 meters, and two huge resident green turtles also hang out in the bay. The area is suitable for snorkeling, with a variety of fish and other marine life, although the coral quality is poor due to damage from the El Niño cycle in the late 1990s. Several resorts, including Jamahkiri Dive Resort & Spa and Taatoh Seaview Resort, are located near the bay, offering scenic sea views and a range of amenities
