Hell Valley, also known as Thermal Valley, is a unique and fascinating destination located in Taipei City. The valley is one of the sources of the area's hot springs and features sulfuric steam that blankets the area year-round, giving it an eerie quality. The springs have the highest temperatures in the Datunshan volcano group, ranging from 80-100°C, and contain corrosive elements, making them unsuitable for bathing. The area is home to rare rocks called 'Beitou rocks' or 'hokutolite,' which contain the radioactive element radium and can only be found in Beitou and Tamagawa, Japan. Visitors can enjoy the surreal sulfuric atmosphere and learn about the unique geology of the area. The valley has a history of over 200 years and was once known as 'Hell Valley' due to several incidents.
