What to expect

Oeschinen Lake is a lake in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland, located 4 kilometres east of Kandersteg in the Oeschinen valley. The lake has a surface area of 1.1147 square kilometres and a maximum depth of 56 metres. It is fed by several mountain creeks and drains underground. The lake is generally frozen for five months, from December to May, and offers various activities such as ice skating, ice fishing, and winter hiking. In the summer, it is possible to row on the lake or take a hike around it. The area around the lake is a paradise for hikers, with several trails offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The lake is also home to various fish species, including Arctic char, lake trout, and rainbow trout. Oeschinen Lake is part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch-Bietschhorn UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers a unique and unforgettable experience for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts
