Mollösund is an old fishing village located on the southwest tip of Orust Municipality in the outer archipelago of Sweden's west coast. The area is home to approximately 277 year-round residents and is a popular tourist destination during the summer months. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, go birding, running, or walking on the 1.5-mile out-and-back trail to the Mollösund lighthouse. The trail is considered easy and is open year-round. Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash. The village has a rich history, with records of permanent settlements dating back to the early 16th century, and was once a thriving fishing community with sailing ships transporting raw materials to and from the region
