Islandsbergs Fyrplats

Lighthouse Grundsund, Vastra Gotaland County, Sweden

What to expect

Islandsberg is a scenic area located south of Grundsund, on the southernmost cape of Skaftö. The area is barren and treeless, with heather and wind being the dominant features. A path leads to the cape and the old lighthouse on the mighty cliff, offering a magnificent view of the archipelago. The lighthouse, built in 1883, was replaced by an unmanned Aga lighthouse in 1938 and is now a privately owned summer house. The area is said to be named after Iceland due to its barren landscape, and the waters between Gullholmen and Islandsberg have been feared by fishermen for their strong waves. The cliff extends 30 meters below sea level, and the wind and waves create a unique and breathtaking experience

Activities: We hiked out to Islandsbergs Fyrplats. I got the tip from an employee at the hotel. "The view was fantastic, but the truth is that I was really grumpy when this card was taken."

Highlights: The view was fantastic, but the hike was a bit tough ✨
