Fyrisån is a river in Sweden that runs through the city of Uppsala and the province of Uppland. The river is about 80 km long and ends in Lake Mälaren. Boats can sail up the river from Lake Mälaren to central Uppsala, where two weirs make further progress impossible. However, a fish ladder was built to enable the asp, an endangered fish, to pass the weirs and reach its spawning waters. The river is also home to various events, such as the Uppsala River Rafting Event, where students attempt to navigate the weirs on homemade rafts
