Kärnan is a medieval tower in Helsingborg, Scania, in southern Sweden. It is the only part remaining of a larger Danish fortress which controlled the entranceway between the Kattegat and the Øresund and further south the Baltic Sea. The tower offers a wonderful view over Helsingborg and the Öresund from its top. With a height of 35 meters and walls up to 4.5 meters thick, it is a impressive structure that dates back to the early 14th century. The tower was restored in 1893-1894 and has since been a landmark for shipping through Øresund. Visitors can climb the 146 steps to the top of the tower for a panoramic view. The tower is also known for its historical significance, having been a symbol of Helsingborg and a former fortress tower

Activities: We went to Slottshagen, where the Kärnan is located. The kids played in the park. "In this park, the atmosphere is nice and the view over the city, Öresund and Denmark (!) is wonderfully beautiful"
Highlights: The park was great for playing, and the view was amazing. The park is in an ancient monument area and the moats that belonged to the fortification around Kärnan make the park feel quite hilly today. The kids enjoyed the crafts ✨
