Visingsö is an island in the southern half of Lake Vättern in Sweden, famous for its horse and carriage, known as remmalag. The island is 14 km long and 3 km wide, with a total area of 24 square kilometers. According to legend, a giant named Vist created Visingsö by throwing a lump of soil into the lake so that his wife could use it to step over the lake. The island has a rich history, with Näs Castle on the southern end being the residence for the Swedish monarchy in the 12th and 13th centuries. Today, visitors can enjoy historical remains, beautiful nature, art, and much more. The island is home to oak forests, farmland, and several landmarks, including Kumlaby church and Tempelgården, a garden of art. During the summer, visitors can take a horse-drawn carriage ride, known as remmalag, or travel on the island by train, which takes about one hour and fifteen minutes. There are also several restaurants on the island, serving a range of cuisine, including ecological food and homemade Swedish 'Ostkaka'
