It is situated on the shores of Lake Vättern, the second largest lake in Sweden, and has a population of around 60 inhabitants. The area is known for its beautiful waterfall, historical water-powered mills, and scenic views of the lake. Visitors can explore the old mills, including the Jerusalems Kvarn and Rasmus Kvarn, and enjoy the surrounding nature reserve, Västanå Nature Reserve. The reserve has several hiking trails, including the Franciskusleden and Röttlestigen, and offers opportunities for swimming and skipping stones along the shoreline. The area is also home to a historic harbor, Röttle Hamn, which was once a docking point for steamboats
