The Ravana Ella Ancient Temple is a Buddhist shrine located in the Uva Province of Sri Lanka. According to legend, the temple was built by King Valagambahu in the 2nd century BC. The temple features a cave with paintings and sculptures that exhibit the characteristics of the Kandyan period. The cave has a drip-ledge and a thin layer of mortar with paintings of circular patterns of lotuses, creeper designs, and floral designs. The temple is also home to a renowned cave, Ravana Ella Cave, which has evidence of human habitation dating back to 25,000 years. The temple is situated near the Ella town and offers a scenic view of the surrounding landscape, including the Ella Mini Adam's Peak mountain
