Lipton's Seat

Viewpoint Dambethenna, Uva, Sri Lanka

What to expect

Lipton's Seat is a high observation point in the hills of Poonagala, located on the top of Poonagala Hill, near the Dambatenne Tea Factory. It is named after Sir Thomas Lipton, a Scottish baron and tea planter, who used it as a seat to survey his empire. The point offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape, including seven provinces, several lakes, and mountains. Visitors can reach the point by climbing for around 7km through peaceful green tea plantations and tea estates. The climb takes about two and a half hours on average. The view from the top is spectacular, especially during early morning hours when the mist clears, revealing a carpet of greens and browns. Lipton's Seat is a budget-friendly place to relax and make some photographic memories
