What to expect

Hikkaduwa is a beach town on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, known for its scenic beaches, coral reef sanctuary, surfing, and nightlife. The town is divided into three main areas: the Sri Lankan town, the tourist area, and the upscale area of Thiranagama. Visitors can enjoy surfing, snorkeling, and exploring the coral reefs, as well as visiting the Hikkaduwa National Park, which is home to approximately seventy varieties of multi-colored corals. The town also hosts the Hikkaduwa Beach Festival, which features local and international music, dance, and DJ performances. For families, Hikkaduwa offers a range of activities, including visiting sea turtle hatcheries and watching wild turtles on the beach.
