What to expect

Bentota is a coastal town in Sri Lanka, located in the Galle District of the Southern Province. It is a popular beach resort with a cluster of hotels, villas, and luxury resorts along its lengthy stretches of golden sand. The town has a rich history, with a small Portuguese fort built at the mouth of the Bentota River, which was later converted into a rest house by the British. Today, Bentota is known for its water sports, including water-skiing, jet-skiing, surfing, and deep-sea fishing. Visitors can also explore the nearby Lunuganga Estate, a country retreat designed by Sri Lankan architect Geoffrey Bawa, and the home of his brother, Bevis Bawa, which features playful artworks and gardens. The town is also famous for its Ayurvedic treatments and toddy production.
